Jenever Glass | 2018

3rd year at Design Academy Eindhoven
Ceramics Minor (Sept 2018-Feb 2019)

The inspiration for this project has been extracted from one sentence that Peter, one of the master distillers at the National Jenever Museum, said whilst he was demonstrating to us how Jenever is made. “There is no Jenever without juniper berries”. Without juniper berries there really is no Jenever! It loses its exceptionally distinctive taste: without the addition of juniper, it would have a neutral taste, like vodka. Therefore my current design, for a fitting glass to drink Jenever from, is a blown up, chopped off and stretched juniper berry. I wanted to bring the user closer to the source; holding, feeling, smelling and tasting the most important part of Jenever.
