Handprint Bowls | 2019
What to do with a bucket of earthenware and a bucket of terracotta slip, let’s see how they work together. Hand prints are a huge part of working with clay and ceramics, only with the aid of tools we are able to remove the traces of your fingers, our fingerprints, left in wet clay, the motion of the hand that shaped a piece. These bowls pay homage to the hands that made them. By dipping my hand in one kind of slip and making prints on the inside off a plaster mould before pouring the other kind of slip over the top to accentuate the hand prints and to form the bowl, I was able to make these prints visible
